I am planning to open a home based bookkeeping business soon. What do you believe the best bookkeeping program is Peachtree, QuickBooks, or something else? Please tell me what you are basing your opinion on (major differences, personal experience, etc.). Thank for your input, Andre

I used both QuickBooks and Peachtree in the past. Now I use AccountEdge from MYOB. I think it's the best small business (or large) software I've every used. Data entry, reporting, cost centers, inventory, etc. - all are straight forward and easy to use. Plus I generate a full set of financial statements for my clients accountant. I do not know where this site is getting its info from but the cost and features they show for their competitors (quickbooks) is highly exagerated. Stick with quickbooks it is not only more popular but also considerablly cheaper.

Yeah I recommend QuickBooks as well, if you do a search for book keeping jobs almost all of them require experience with Quick Books, I've used both Peach Tree and QuickBooks, and found that QuickBooks is more efficient. It's also more flexible, as most of your clients will probably use it as well. But if you can, try to learn a bit about Peach Tree as well.
