I saw where Powell is having success gaining new clients by purchasing lists of "sales tax applicants". Despite several responses from others in this forum requesting more info, the source of this list remains a mystery. I'd be interested in this information as well.
In the meantime, I've found my locality has a list of new business license applicants as a matter of public record. I've used this list and am telephoning prospects. After about 3 weeks of this effort, I do have one client, and several other suspects who will likely turn into clients before year end or at tax time.
My question: have others tried this? It does require a lot of telephoning before you sort through the names to find those who truly might qualify for a bookkeeper. Many are part time/second income folks and I wonder if they will ever really have need for a bookkeeper.
Thoughts or suggestions anyone?
Thank you
Jim |

| JIM EVERY BUSINESS NEEDS TO KEEP RECORDS. IN FACT THE IRS MANDATES IT. IF YOU DO NOT KEEP ANY RECORDS, THE IRS CAN AND HAS CHALLENGED WHETHER THE OPERATION IS A BUSINESS OR HOBBY. |

Jim,
If you have recieved Universal's dvd then I would suggest that you not start with new business leads. Universal Acconting's marketing program has 12 steps that will help you start your business faster and for less money. You might try to contact them again and take a look at their marketing processes. |
