I just earned my Professional Bookkeeper Certificate from Universal Accounting. This is an entirely new field for me and have no experience using Quickbooks.
1.) I would like to hear, perhaps from someone in a similar situation, how much practice you needed to do working with this software before you felt confident enough to look for your first client or your first bookkeeper job. Did you find it necessary to take the Quickbook Training course offered by UAC or was it sufficient to just work out with Quickbooks the sample problems in the UAC binders? Have you tried another training guide and did you find it useful?
2.) I now have Quickbooks Pro 2003 and would also like to know if a working knowledge of this version would suffice for someone starting out as a bookkeeping consultant or as an employee.
Thanks.

JOE: YOU SITUATION IS ANOTHER REASON THAT I HATE QUICKBOOKS. YOU HAVE VERSION 2003. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE EMPLOYER GETS VERSION OR HAS VERSION 2004? YOU HAVE TO RENEW YOUR SOFTWARE. IF YOUR IN THE BUSINESS JUST TO MAKE MONEY, THEN QUICKBOOKS IS THE SOFTWARE FOR YOU. YOU CAN DO GOOD RIPPING OFF BUSINESSES BY CHARGING OUTLANDISH COUNSULTING FEES STRAIGHTENING THEIR QUICKBOOK RECORDS AFTER THEY HAVE SCREWED THEM UP.
OF COURSE I AM ASSUMING THAT THEY DO NOT GO OUT OF BUSINESS IN THE MEANTIME BECAUSE OF POOR AND OR INACCURATE RECORDS

Richard
I understand your points about a particular version of software. But doesn't that apply to any brand of software, not just QuickBooks? What software do you use?

And I have to ask why you TYPE IN ALL CAPS? It is hard to read. And in computer geek speak; YOU ARE SHOUTING!

This is for Richard. Have you had a bad experience with Quickbooks? It sounds like you are pretty upset with the company.
