Anybody know a good resource to help in creating a business plan for an accounting/bookkeeping business? I am looking to get a loan and know that having a business plan is necessary. I am just starting out, though, so have no idea what to do or where to get the information I need. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

It is not really necessary to get a loan to begin a accounting and bookkeeping service. There are ways to start a service inexpensively. Contact me and i will send you one of our dvd's about starting a practice and how to market. You can see my email address attached.

I actually already have that DVD. I appreciated some of the ideas; however, my husband is currently our only source of income and his job ends in 1 week. We need money to survive on until my business gets off its feet.

Kassie, if you own QuickBooks Premier or Premier Accounting Edition there's a whole step by step business planning tool (from the Tool Bar: Company/Planning & Budgeting/Business Plan Tool) which walks you through creating a business plan. Another source is the SBA website which gives you the basics. I just went out to the net and typed in "BUSINESS PLAN" BOOKKEEPING and got several great looking resourcs both CD's and downloadable stuff. I am a degreed accountant and am about 1/2 way through the UAC course. It's very good and the marketing portion is a great resource. Good luck. e-mail me if I can be of further help. Jack
