| Peachtree and Quickbooks? 90% Small Biz uses Quickbooks and 2% uses Peachtree. Even though Peachtree is a better program SAGE (publisher of peachtree) are not interested to promote Peachtree. They have more profitable corporate accounting software which they promote. |

Now peachtree is owned by Best Software makers of MAS 90. It has improved a lot. Check out the 2004 features. I like Peachtree better than Quickbooks for accountant use because the reports look more professional than Quickbooks. Quickbooks is for someone with limited or no accounting background.
Peachtree's finacial statements look more like the standard GAAP format. I don't like Quickbooks financial statements. |

| I'm an Accounts Payable/ Payroll manager for a construction company. I love working with Peachtree. It is easy to use and you can convert most of your reports to excel. I admit I have not used Quickbooks in quite a while, so I don't know how much it has changed over the years. If your accounting knowledge is limited to the basics - stick with Quickbooks. If you have more knowledge and want to pass it on to your clients use Peachtree. |

I totally agree! And, the job cost features in Peachtree are great for the construction and contracting industries.

| Best Software, not SAGE, acquired Peachtree, and I'm inclined to doubt your statement that they are no longer interested promoting Peachtree. I bought a DOS version of Peachtree many years ago. I still receive mail from them for offers on the latest versions. |

I have used both and I find QB to be much more user freindly. Someone mentioned that QB is for someone with no accounting experience. I warn you that its ease of use falsly assures anyone they can use it, but behind the scenes you will have a complete mess. Peachtree requires a better understanding of accounting, but can also become quite messy in the hands of the wrong user.
I like QB because most of my small businesses use it and when I have to get in to clean up the mess QB is much easier to navigate around and fix all the errors.
QB has its limitations if you need specialized software for certain industries, but for most small to medium businesses it works very well.
(QB has classes which make my life very easy for multiple locations, PT does not). |
