| In reveiwing a clients files I found that someone has deleted a customer. The customer fortunuately had a zero balance, but the history is gone and the auditors want me to restore the data. I have a backup that includes the missing customer. QUESTION: Is there anyway in QB to restore a single customer's file from a back up? |

| I don't know of any way to get just one customer's history. Are you sure the account was not just hidden. When you are showing your Customer List try clicking ATL+S to show all hidden names. |

A customer that has any history in QB's cannot be deleted. If you try to do so, QB's will tell you that it can't be done. The customer can, however, be made inactive. If this is what has happened, then it is just hidden. You need to got to the customer list and check the box at the bottom of the page that says "Show All." This will show all active and inactive customers.
You can only delete a customer or vendor that has never had any transactions entered against them.
Hope this helps. |

I agree with the other posters that it sounds like your customer was just inactivated; however, if you do want to restore a backup to retrieve old data (if it was archived or condensed, perhaps), you can restore it under a different file name. You will then have access to the detailed information.
