|

I am in the process of deciding which software to use for my newly established bookkeeping service.
My question is would Quickbooks Premier Accountant be overkill or would it be best to purchase it even though my business is just starting out. I would hate to purchase Quickbooks Pro and wish I would have started with a more advance software.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you!

| OVERKILL to start out. I think Pro is just right. If you move to the 10-20 clients than you might upgrade next year. |

I have Pro 2004, and Premier Accountant for 2003 and 2005. Although Pro does many things, one important thing you cannot do with Pro is to view, print, and/or undo prior bank reconciliations. Even if your client uses Pro, if you have Premier Accountant 2005, you have this flexibility.
Premier Accountant 2005 also has the ability to QuickZoom on Retained Earnings. This enables you to see changes to RE, something you cannot do with Pro.
You will probably need to purchase other years of QB if you wish to support it thoroughly. As I already mentioned, I support 2003, 2004, and 2005. I have no doubt that I'll support future versions as well.
Premier Accountant has other bells and whistles too. I think it's definitely worth the extra money.
