:!: Does anyone know if this course informs California residents that they need to be registered with the State before they can legally prepare tax returns in California (and get paid to do so).

:!: Also, does this course provide the certificate needed to register in the State of California in order to offer tax return preparation services in California?

Thank you so much for letting me know. You just saved me the cost of duplicating courses.

Actually the PTP is approved for CTEC and in order to comply with CTEC needs we also have a supplemental packet to cover the state tax needs.

To see that we are listed as a Qualifying Education - Distance

Continuing Education - Distance

Best Wishes

When I received my course this summer I was never informed that an additional course to qualify to do taxes in California would be needed.

And as of August 28th, when I had to purchase another course, Universal was not listed on the CTEC website.

As of last week there was no supplemental packet available, and I was told it would be another month. (I was thus informed by an employee of Universal).

The course received CTEC approval in September. It is now listed on the CTEC site. The CTEC supplemental materials should be in the mail soon. In the meantime, enjoy the course so that you're ready for the CTEC materials when they arrive.
