|
|
Dear ,
We are currently investigating fraudulent emails that were sent to some QuickBooks Online users this past weekend. These emails request users to update their account information by clicking a link that goes to a fraudulent web site. Unfortunately, the fraudulent company took the time to carefully make the e-mail look like it genuinely came from Intuit.
Intuit did not send this email and we at QuickBooks Online Edition would not use emails to request that personal information be given to us via email or pop-up windows. A copy of the e-mail is attached below should you want to refer to it.
What Can You Do?
To protect yourself from fraudulent emails and websites, here's what you can do:
Be suspicious of any email that asks for personal information or requests your authentication information to access your Online Account. If you receive an email like this, contact us right away.
Do not click any links in a suspicious email.
Check the URL before entering your login name or password. Make sure you log in using www.loginQBOE.com.
If You Provided Personal Information
If you think you've provided personal information (like your login name and password) through a fraudulent website, here's what you should do:
Check the Activity Log in QuickBooks Online:
Log in to QuickBooks Online.
From the Company menu, choose Activity Log.
Check to see if your login name and password have been used to log in at a time when you didn't use them.
Change your password to prevent unauthorized users from logging into your account.
If you can't log in to QuickBooks Online, we might have locked your account to prevent unauthorized users from logging in to your account. Contact us to reset your password.
Contact us so we can help protect your information.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are taking immediate action to stop this from happening and to provide you with the best possible experience.
Thanks.

I received the above in my mailbox this morning. Intuit sent a copy (picture) of the bogus site to me along with this letter. I tried to copy and paste it to my post above but it did not take. So I could not share
with you. Let me just say this is scary. The fraudsters did a very good
job of duplicating the genuine site. You all might want to pass this on to
your clients. |
