I was very tempted to order one of the courses from Universal Accounting but I found some bad reports

*************************************************************

Universal Accounting Center confirmed they had a 100% no hassle return policy if after viewing one of there course and I felt it was not for me I could return it for a full refund. After I reviewed the course I returned it stating it was not what I was looking for and requested a refund. Now they have me in default sent my information to a collection agency to collections agency to collect $2467.5 Salt Lake City Utah

Company
Universal Accounting Center
Address:
5250 South Commerce Drive
Salt Lake City Utah 84107-7926
U.S.A.
Phone Number:
800-343-4827
Fax:

A sales representative from Universal Accounting Center, sold me on the idea to try one of there accounting programs.

After several phone calls and several emails. I agreed to look at the program solely based on his confirmation that Universal Accounting Center had a 100% no hassal return policy that if after viewing there course, I felt it was not for me I could return it for a full refund.

After receiving the course I reviewed it for several days and decided the course was not what I was looking for. After several attempts to return the course they refused to take it back. I contacted the sales rep that sold the course to me and this time he told me the only way I could get a refund is to complete the course and at that point I would need to write a letter explaining why the course did not benefit me. Thats when they would consider the refund.

They refuse to give me a refund or take the course back. Now they have me in default and sent my information to a collections agency to collect $2467.50 plus a 50% collections agency fee.

The people I have spoken to that refuse to help are:

David Broumas - Sales Rep
Trudy Rushton - Facilitation Department
Bryan - CPA

Johnny
Virginia Beach, Virginia
U.S.A.

Although I am not aware of the specific situtation referred to above I would like to share some personal thoughts on this.

Industries have a variety of return policies that each of us use and are familuar with. As an example, schools offer refunds that may be based on a sliding scale from the start of the class to the end of course, etc.

Since 1992 Universal has and continues to offers a very fair and straight forward policy which is found on all of the school materials and websites. For the Home-Study programs it specifically reads:

Universal's Guarantee

For the Professional Bookkeeper and Professional Tax Preparer programs the Universal return policy reads:

"If, after completing the course, you feel the course didn't live up to your expectation, simply return the materials to Universal, for a 100% refund of any monies paid."

Although very rarley requested I have seen over the years it applied more than fairly and exactly as it is read.

Having personally taken courses at colleges and universities I know that I have never had as generous a policy as Universal offers to its students.

I get to talk to people that purchase Universals products on a daily basis. A lot of people do not understand the return policy. They definitely have a 100% money back guarantee, however you need to remember that it only applies AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE COURSE!! It states that very clearly on your invoice, on the websites, and all the telemarketers here read it word for word. I find it halarious that someone who obviously didn't want to do the simple task of completing the course will post negative markings on the internet, and then complain about being in collections because he didn't fullfill his obligations. I talk to THOUSANDS of Universal Success stories everyday..... it's a PROVEN course and technique. About 90% of the time I find that once we explain the return policy, the students complete the course and then they DON'T return it because they are happy with the outcome and what they learn. Just because you don't get your way on something certainly doesn't give you the right to bad mouth a good company!!

1040,

I've been a customer/student of Universal for over 3 yrs now; the bad report you came across & posted here just doesn't sound like Universal Accounting at all! This is a principled company, and having met its President and some of its Staff face-to-face, I can tell you that they are not after "a quick sale"; they do service what they sell.

As a consumer: It's illogical to invest this kind of money, to get a 'sneak preview', when there is a free video offer to those that would like more information about the course.

As a Business Person: If I am offering you goods and services or 100% return on your monies, then I am invested, and the very least I would expect from you is a sincere effort and equal investment...that's just good business!

As a Universal Accounting Student [with college degrees & work experience in accounting and bookkeeping]: I can tell you that Universal's Professional Bookkeeper's course will leave you with a working knowledge of small business accounting.

Whether you're studying through a course, hunting a better job, or building a business, there is no 'magic formula', it takes time and effort -- that's the investment you make...then go ahead and base your ROI [return on investment] on the price of the course.

I believe Universal makes it very clear that you get your money back if you complete the course and are not satisfied. It seems that this individual purchased the course without recognizing what the guarantee entails. Here it is, straight from their website:

"If, after completing the course, you feel the course didn't live up to your expectation, simply return the materials to Universal, for a 100% refund of any monies paid."

I don't believe there's anything deceptive about that...

I have had my UA course since March 9 and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I ordered the Professional Tax Preparer course and it has a lot of good information in it that would be handy in the long run. I feel that even if it doesn't work for me in a present time, that it would work for me in the future.

I have nothing bad to say about Universal Accounting whatsoever or their return policy, because I believe they have a course and program that would fit everyone's needs, whether they're running a business or doing it for people they know. All I can say, is I love the course that I ordered and I'm learning a lot of stuff that I didn't learn in the basic tax course through Liberty Tax Service and I want to thank you UA for giving me a chance to learn a more education in income taxes to where I would have confidence, and since I have been taking the course, I have confidence in doing income taxes and not make mistakes. Thank you UA!
