| I have started working for a client whose books are out of sorts. I have found out their W-2's for last year have not been (no one has been doing their books since their past office mgr left in Oct of '06). In researching the information to complete the W'2's, the person processing their payroll made several mistakes. She did not use QB and calculated payroll manually. There are several corrections and nothing matches actual checks written out to the employees. Here is my question: Should I go ahead and try to create my best guess W-2's or should I defer to the Company's accountant??? I am worried about putting my name on anything I deem as incorrect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I know W-2's were due out by January 31st. Thanks. |

| I would suggest that you and the Company Accountant work together to resolve the open issues. Have a meeting to be sure that the Co. Acct. knows what you know and you know what they know. Then, decide on an action plan to get all the open issues resolved. |
