A potential client called me and asked if I do tax preparation, I had no choice but to say no. That already was a negative hit. Then she asked if I did quarterlies and end of year reporting. I told her I was happy to get back to her on that, since I have no clue what that is. I know she was thinking "how does this person not know if they do quarterlies or not?".

I know I probably blew it with this person, but how to I answer this question in the future? I took the UAC's bookkeeping course and I got a 93 on the final. But I am stuck here!!!

Help!

:D Hey hunni. Well, "Quarterlies" are your payroll reports that are due on a quarterly basis. All items that are withheld from your paycheck such as Federal withholding, State withholding, your Social Security and Medicare (FICA) are all due by the 15th of the month if you are a scheduled monthly depositor. Some are weekly depositers, and some are quarterly... (its all based on the amount of gross payroll and your filing frequency is decided by the IRS and the particular state)

At any rate, you make your deposits generally by the 15th or 20 of the month, but every quarter, you compile and send in these "Quarterly" reports.

Also, if they have sales tax, this is due as well. Scrap tire disposal taxes as well.

E-mail me if you have any questions.
