I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me about the most popular tax prep softwares for professional prep?

And which is your favorite and why?

Pipe in anyone.

And this will be my first year. Should I work for someone else this year (although I did work for H&R a few years ago)and get more experience or is it possible to earn a good living right out of the starting gate doing taxes. What has your experiences been? :?:

I recommend that you get an evaluation copy of Intuit Pro Series(r) and go through the video and a case study of an actual tax return that you can process with your evaluation copy. Great program that work seamlessly with QuickBooks(r). Please visit Intuit's web site for more details. Also take the Universal Tax Course. It's great.

I use and recommend Drake software. The support team is awesome and the software is fairly simple to use. It definitely does not take as much computer resources as other programs! It also includes the following:
Electronic Filing
Write-up module
Payroll module
Document Manager
Tax Planner
Appointment Scheduler
Free website
Free Marketing tools
I wouldn't necessarily recommend the write-up feature at this time, but the AFT payroll is nice for a few of my clients. And it's included! No, I don't receive a dime for promoting them, I just appreciate the value!
