| How do you convert someone else's software to yours? If someone is using Peachtree and I want to use Quickbooks, how do I get the the data out of Peachtree and into Quickbooks? Thanks! |

Hi Amanda,
I take it from your question that you do not have much experience with accounting software. I've been doing this since 1984. The utilities and tools available are fantastic today.
You need to go to the accounting software help and read how you can "export," then "import" the data. QuickBooks and PeachTree both target one another for converting the data so you should be able to find a discussion that gives you an example of how this is done. I'm giving you this tip, though, with a huge caution. If you do not thoroughly test the data to ensure that it came over correctly, you could create more of a mess for yourself and your client than it is worth. In that instance, it is much easier for you to just manually input your starting balances which tie to the report in the previous system.
If you are determined to have the data come over and are not comfortable with the data testing, etc., feel free to contact me.
Micki
