Hi,
I need to purchase a PC for my new business. Since I've always been an Apple/MAC person (except at work), I won't need to worry about running older applications on a new system--I'll be a brand new PC person. I'm pretty sure I'm going with Dell, however I can't figure out which operating system, which processor, and how many gigs of RAM. I just want to able to run QB and Office programs at a reasonable speed--I don't need the best and fastest (I don't plan to "game", make videos, etc.).
For QB 2008, Intuit recommends at least 1.8 GHZ processor with XP and at least 2.0 GHZ with Vista. Vista. in general, also requires more RAM than XP. Should I take these recommendations seriously? If so, I can save about $200 by going with XP, a 1.8 processor and 1 gig of RAM, rather than going with Vista and having to upgrade these components. Or is it always good idea to go with the latest system? If I don't need to go with Dell (because they offer XP), is there some other great PC deal out there that will do the job for less $$?
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

There are trade offs Vista is brand new and not fully supported. However as a former apple use you probably will be more comfortable with it rather than xp. NEVER go with the recommended minimum requirements when purchasing a new system. Finally although price is a consiideration it should not be the only deciding factor. |

| In my opinion, I will use QB2008 on XP because I think QB2008 still not guarantee on Vista. |
