Hi all,

I'm hoping you might share your advice in regards to a free
online bookkeeping service I've developed, and hope to
develop further.

I'm a programmer, not an accountant or bookeeper. I've
designed our online bookkeeping service around the
procedures my wife and and I have used to manage our own
small businesses for 30 years. So I know our system is
suitable for simple small family businesses.

I'd like to continue to develop our system so it can handle
a wider range of accounting situations, and need some
experienced advice about what kind of features I should add
next to move in that direction.

I'm not sure if I should post the URL of our service here,
as that may be seen as spam. I'll wait for your advice on
that.

Until then, a brief description. Our service allows the
user to enter payment and income data. Each entry can be
sorted in to a user created category, and a note can be
attached. The data can be searched, sorted and displayed in
various ways. Profit/loss summaries are provided, and
category totals can be calculated for Schedule C forms.

Users can create as many different databases as they need,
each a completely seperate financial record.

In short, I can program many more features, but have
reached the boundaries of my quite limited accounting
knowledge.

If you've always wanted to tell the programmmers how
to code accounting software the right way, here's
your chance, I'm all ears. :-)
