|
|
New to the forum, but this looks like a great place for someone like myself, a CPA out of public accounting and into the industry.
Small/midsize firm wants to move from an excel based asset tracking system to software that handles said function. I have used Asset Keeper before, but I don't know if that is the best, and as we are not an asset intensive company, we are an internet company, we don't need anything fancy. Just want to track/depreciate our furniture and computers.
I google searched this subject and there are way too many options, so any narrowing of the field for me will really help!
Thanks!!! |

| QuickBooks is perfectly capable of tracking fixed assets/depreciation, and has the advantage of integrating the data into the rest of the company books. |

Thanks - I went with Fixed Asset Manager that came with QB Premier. It is not perfect by any means, and I had to have several rounds of help with the QB support team (I am a Pro Advisor), but as a whole I am very happy with the results.
So the answer to my initial question on this thread:
Go with QB if you have less than 1,000 assets. |

| I use Blackbaud Financial Edge Fixed Asset Module. It is a great system and fully integrated with the GL. |

Probably the most popular Fixed Asset program would be FAS, used by most accounting firms, utility companies, and cell phone companies that I'm aware of - very flexible and intuitive.
A second option would be to set up a spread sheet and handle it there, perhaps with some additional access programming you would be extremely satisfied.
Still another option is to utilize your tax software which should have a package to itemize, and retire assets. You will have to enter everything over in there anyway. |

I also use the Fixed Asset Manager that comes with QB Premier Acct edition. Your tax software may also have one.
