I did not want to hijack jeanette,s post so I am starting a new thread. The loss of hardware and software as well as sensitive data is something we all need to be concerned about. My suggestion to all on the forum is to
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE TECHNOLOGY out there that has been developed to protect our hardware and software. An example. I personally have gone paperless for all of my clients and have encrypted my software. Also I have saved to a 1GB thumb drive (cost $17.00) 450 client files for a TOTAL OF 4 YRS. The same goes for your accounting clients. The damage that can be done to your clients security as well AS YOUR REPUTATION are worth the added cost. |

Thank you for the information. Fortunately, they didn't take my main computer and I don't have any client's data at home. I too am looking into different ways to secure my home as well as my valuable information. I have looked into online backups, but I am not sure if this is the way to go either. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Jeanette |
