I am interested in purchasing the Peachtree Accounting package and wanted to know if the functionality of the software would be relatively simple for someone with an accounting background. Also, would purchasing a support package be a must.

Thanks.

Peachtree is a good choice. However, you should buy only "Peachtree Complete" or the accountant version. I love working with it. It is user friendly. The cost is reasonable (approx $279 for the accounting module, $179 for the P/R module and updates)
As far as the support package....There are a few times that I have been grateful to have had it but probably have used it only 2 times this past year. Depends on your skill level and the complexity of your company's data. They were very instrumental in helping to set up some specialized Report and billing formats for some unique clients.

All in all, I think Peachtree is a good choice. I just cannot say much about Quickbooks. I use it only when I have too. I do not like Quickbooks!

Much success to you.
