I am a new UAC student but I haven't received my stuff yet. I know UAC trains students on how to calculate fees and recommend charging by the transaction. I frankly don't feel that is a good idea for me and the area I live in. I live in the Orlando area and I have a bachelor's degree in accounting and could sit for the CPA exam if I wanted to.
Is $375 too much to charge for basic accounting services(AP, AR, Bank Recs, Financial Statement Prep, Payroll). Some like to consider payroll an extra service outside of the basic stuff but I include it. I will drop the fee on smaller businesses. I do carry premium services separate from the basic. What do you think? |

I am just outside the Orlando Area, (Melbourne) . You need to know what your time is worth, and stick with it. I agree that the smaller business should probably pay less than a larger one, but that decision is based on volume of work and time to process rather than size of the business and affordability.
Each business should pay you for the time that you spend working on that business. When you get your stuff, watch the DVD, and follow the workbook instructions, you will begin to build your business model first and then you can start to fill it with clients. When we do things the other way round we are too desparate to make a sale, and usually discount ourselves to a non-profitable level.
I am also a student, but I have had my practice since 2001, with experience in accounting since 1994. Marketing has traditionally been my weakest point.

| The function you will be providing should be more than the typical data entry and financial statement formatting. You're there to keep the cash flow in perspective and the business from failing. You can also offer growth of both sales and bottom line. |
