I am interested in obtaining UA's Bookkeeping certification without purchasing the UA's Bookkeeping course. There was a flaw in the argument of a UA's representative in explaining to me that UA doesn't guarantee the completeness of other private sellers' courses, etc., therefore, one can't get certified that way! Whether one purchases other people's courses for full price or discounted, get it for free, or already have an accounting and finance degree (which is my case), has nothing to do with applying for and taking the universal (here, I mean uniform testing for "ALL") testing of UA and be certified to show off to others, if that's really what gives true credibility and professional prestige!
I will appreciate if a moderator familiar with this situation and how much such testing willl cose, will post or email me a reply.
Thank you,
Zaya

Zaya,

Having received a degree in accounting through a University as you stated, you know what we get have known for years. Universities teach corporate accounting instead of small business bookkeeping and accounting. Many with degrees tell us that after getting a degree they are unable to get a job because they have no practical experience.

Universal Accounting's Professional Bookkeeper (PB) course is structured to teach small business bookkeeping in 11 different types of industries. To receive the PB designation, you first need to go through the course and then take the test and pass it with a 90 % or better.

There are other programs that allow you to just pay a fee and then you can use a designation. Some allow you to pay to take a test and then if you fail, you can purchase training for you to take and then re-take the test.

Universal is the organization offering the Professional Bookkeeper (PB), Professional Tax Preparer (PTP) and Quick Books Specialist (QS) designations. Because Universal Accounting offers the training, testing and designations, it has always had a policy that after receiving the training, a student can then take the test and earn that designation.

Because of this policy, Universal Accounting offers a guarantee that states if after taking the course, if you feel that the course did not meet your expectations, you may return it for a full refund. So, if you find that you already knew all of this information in the course, you could receive a refund.

It may be of interest to you that about a third of our PB students are degreed accountants. I am sure some are there just for marketing but we are told regularly by our students that they learned things in our course that they had either forgotten or had not known previously.
