What are the pros & cons to becoming QB Certified?
What is involved in the way of time and cost?
Is there an expected payback period?
Your advice is appreciated. |

Your advice is appreciated. The only cost involved is your time. |

The ProAdvisor Membership cost is $449 for one-year ($549 including payroll). The cost of certification and the QuickBooks software (QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2008) is included. Here's a link to the website:

Best of luck,

Best of luck,
Rob There is no need to become a proadvisor to become certified. The certification costs nothing. However like you say it is included if you do indeed choose to become a proadvisor. |

| I forgot to mention that Intuit also offers a quickbooks user certification. Currently that includes QB training and certification for I believe $99.00 However I assumed you were referring to the certification that is available to those that have their own business offering QB services. |

Which certification are you referring to when you say it "costs nothing"? I have found two certifications - Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program and Certified QuickBooks User Program. I've discussed the ProAdvisor, which costs at least $449, in an earlier post. The Certified QuickBooks User Program costs $99.95 for training materials and the exam or only $49.95 if you think you can pass the exam without using any training materials. I can't fathom that Intuit would bestow any kind of certification for "no cost" of any kind. |
