Hi to all!
I need help in computing dividends for company shareholders. Or should I say, how much should each shareholders get during the fiscal year? Do shareholders get their profit only during the fiscal year or can be quarterly also? We have 3 general partners and 1 limited partner. The general manager has higher share among the 2 general partners.
Actually I don't know much so I really don't know what exactly should I ask.
Please, any information regarding this will be very much appreciated. |

Good morning. The calculations and distribution of dividends is usually decided by the Board of Directors I believe.
Is this a corporation? I sounds more like a partnership so there definitely should have been a plan put together about how much each partner would get of the profits and how often it would be distributed. Technically, I don't think they would be referred to as shareholders. When I hear shareholder, I think stockholders and there is no stock in a partnership. Also, there are no "dividends" either so to speak because again, this is not a corporation.
Now, if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. :D |

I see. Thanks! :)
For learning purposes, I would like to know if a shareholder gets interest whenever the dividend is released. If yes, by how many percent?

I can't answer that question because it's decided by the Board of Directors. It could be whatever they want it to be. It's not a figure that is pulled out of thin air or based on industry practice. You need to go back to the partnership agreement and see what the profit share is. |
