| Does anyone have any suggestions or scripts they use to call on prospective clients? I have been sending out my letters, but really don't have a good script to follow when I call the prospect to try and get a meeting set up with them. I'm looking for a good way to start the call, lead into my services & benefits and close with a scheduled meeting. |

Google the keywords "consultative selling". I have a free ebook I found on the topic. It may give you ideas on how to write a plan that may help you schedule those meetings and ace them. |

Do those books really work? I sometimes feel that my Brooklyn accent scares people away into thinking I'm a con artist or something lol. Being that I don't live in New York anymore, I notice my accent more and more, and LOTS of people point it out on me. It's even harder when your first name is Tony LOL.
But overall, when I was doing telemarketing a few years back, I was pretty good at it, and it's really not that hard to convince someone over the phone to give you a shot. I would suggest working on tone of voice, showing your confidence, keep price for last -- instead preach the benefits of your service like a sermon -- and don't rush them into anything (actually, don't let it seem like you're pushing them real fast, make them feel somewhat like they have control). |

What you just described falls under what consultative selling is. It's all about not being pushy and you are talking to the customer about how you can help solve their problem. It's less focused on talking about yourself but still stick to the benefits of your services.
As long as your name is not Tony "Break Your Knees" Aravicci or something like that, then I have no problem with New Yorkers... |

| Hey, Tony "Break Your Knees" is my cousin; how you know him?? LOL just kidding. I'm definitely curious now about the books in consultative selling; I want to see what they're about. I'll probably run by the bookstore this weekend. |

I know your cousin because he told me one day, "Say hello to my little friend!" I think after he said that I blacked out or something... |
