I have client that switched from her CPA to our service recently. I am doing her S-corp return, and individual return, no employees, 1099's, quarterly write-up. He was charging her hourly, as is customary for CPA's. One of the features, as taught in this course, is to bill only for the work we do; however, she calls me at home, on the cell, for advice on future real estate transactions, etc. etc. etc. I don't know how to charge her? I am ready to start the clock every time she comes in, or calls me. I know from last year's books that she paid her former CPA over $4,000 in fees. Any input appreciated

Charlie: You state "one of the features, as taught in this course, is to bill only for the work we do...."

So what is the problem?? You are giving advice.

If you have a legal question or a medical question don't you think your attorney or doctor is going to bill you for their advice? You are just as much a professional as a doctor or lawyer.
I personally encourage my clients to come in before Jan 1st so that we can do tax planning. The first hour is free. After that it is $40.00/hr minimum, depending on complexity of taxes.
