I just received a call from a client who wants to know how much I will charge for Quickbooks set-up & training. I don't know how much to charge? Any suggestions. How long does it usually take to set someone up on Quickbooks? I guess that depends on how many accounts they want and how detailed they want everything, especially if they have inventory right???

I Charge $75/hour with a two hour minimum if it is just one project. If however you are going to become their regular accountant, then charge them for set up the same amount that you charge them monthly.

When it comes to setup and training I would charge hourly too. It is far too difficult to guess at how much time will be involved or how much training. Maybe if you're lucky you can confuse the person enough to make them let you handle the books instead of them.

I would not suggest that your strategy be that you try to confuse them and trick them into letting you do their books. I suggest that you make a compelling argument to the business owner that they do what makes them $$$$ and you do what takes their time.
